2 pkgs semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 cakes German chocolate
2 cups walnuts or pecans
4 1/2 cups sugar
pinch salt
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 tall can evaporated milk
Mix milk, salt, sugar and butter in heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Turn to simmer and stir for 10 or 15 minutes.
Pour this hot mixture over chocolate and nuts; mix and rapidly pour into greased 13x9x2" pan.
I have been making this for years - certain people expect it at Christmas.
