Beat cream cheese and margarine until smooth. Add sugar and mix well. Add vanilla. Spread between layers, on top and sides of cake. Sprinkle top with pecans.
This is our Christmas cake every year!
TIP: Always sift flour (or powdered sugar) before measuring. When the recipe calls for flour, soda, salt and baking powder, sift all of these together before adding them to the rest of the batter.
