ICE BOX ROLLS

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sweet milk, scalded
- 1 cup warm water
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 6 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4 tablespoons lard
- 1 yeast cake
Directions
Beat egg. Dissolve sugar and yeast cake in water. Then mix these with milk.
Sift flour and salt together.
Work in lard and make dough with mixture. Put in ice box.
Roll out about same thickness as for biscuits. Grease with lard.
Cut and make turnovers.
This recipe was in one of Chee Chee’s cookbooks and titled Ice Box Rolls (Etta E’s. Receipt), Etta E. is Etta Elizabeth Binford, Chee Chee’s first cousin. Etta Elizabeth’s mother, Rebecca Hawthorne Peace (Aunt Beck) was Grandpa Kit’s sister.
